Fox is piloting the unscripted dating competition Masquerade Ball from Natalka Znak’s ZnakTV and Fox Alternative Entertainment.

The hour-long format is being executive produced by Znak and Claire O’Donohoe.

A spin on the dating genre, singles are given the opportunity to escape their regular lives and enter a period “when  romance was formal, dressing up was compulsory and the search for love was a serious affair.”

Contestants will rely on their own wit and charm, with the centerpiece of every episode being a Masquerade Ball where singles have just a few moments on the dance floor to impress and find their “fairytale happy-ever-after.”

Masquerade Ball is the first official project from ZnakTV, the outfit Znak set up after leaving her post as president of Sky Studios-backed Znak & Co. in March.

Znak is an EP for MasterChef and MasterChef Junior and has produced a variety formats for Fox including last year’s Ultimate Tag.

Prior to establishing Znak & Co., Znak served as CCO and then CEO of Zodiak USA where she produced shows such as Secret Millionaire (ABC), Celebrity Wife Swap (ABC), and truTV’s Hardcore PawnLizard Lick Towing and Killer Karaoke. Prior to Zodiak, Znak served as controller of factual entertainment for ITV Studios where credits included I’m Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!Hell’s Kitchen and Love Island.

Fox recently commissionedCrime Scene Kitchen, produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment and Fly on the Wall (Big Brother) and hosted by actor/comedian Joel McHale (pictured).
